Custom designed Web site, logo, blog, content management system and search engine optimization for professional destination wedding planner in Mendocino, California.
challenge
The Mendocino Weddings Web site had been online for a significant amount of time. The business was recently purchased by a new owner, Sonya Houston, and she felt her current Web site did not reflect her vision for the business. She heard from customers that they almost didn’t call because the Web site was so dated. The original Web site had excellent domain equity since it had been online for such a long time so we needed to make sure this ranking was not lost.
strategy
The target market for Mendocino Weddings is a sophisticated, savvy audience from the San Francisco Bay Area. We focused on a design direction that captured the natural beauty of the Mendocino area, achieving a balance of rustic and natural elegance that would appeal to brides as a place to come for a destination wedding.
design
Based on the brand positioning objectives of Mendocino Weddings, Eye Design Studio provided two mood boards that set the overall brand and design direction for the Mendocino Weddings & Events design: Vintage Modern (Modern yet enduring, inspired by vintage items and letterpress, eclectic) and Eco Chic (Fresh, sustainable, modern, green, organic, local, artisan, rustic-modern, inspired by nature). The client choose the Eco Chic mood board for the creative direction in terms of developing the new logo, Web site design and blog design.

We also developed a tag line: “Weddings & event planning for all of life’s celebrations” for the client.

A new logo was designed and incorporated into the new Mendocino Weddings Web site. The new Web site design now better reflects the client’s brand. The site features local images and wedding galleries that showcase wedding locations and vendors. Mendocino is a beautiful setting on the Northern California coast, so we wanted visitors to see the wide range of scenic venues available for a destination wedding. We also added a blog to the Web site, allowing the client to feature new weddings and events. This keeps fresh content and is a great way to reach future customers.

Eye Design Studio worked with Hoi Moon marketing to help with keyword rich optimized copywriting to make sure the wording appealed to the audience, communicated the brand, and would be found in organic search results. The high page ranking from the old site was carefully preserved on the new site.

We developed a new artisan handcrafted brand image with a new logo and Web site that reflects Mendocino Weddings & Events in a fresh creative way that appeals to today’s brides.
