project overview

Custom Web site redesign, blog and email campaign. Amalee Boutique was a bricks and mortar retailer located in the N. Mississippi Avenue district, one of Portland’s oldest and most unique neighborhoods. This historic Mississippi Historic district offers brew pubs, coffee houses, galleries and one-of-a kind boutiques. Amalee Boutique has since closed their doors but we helped re-purpose the blog Web site into what is now Verabel Jewelry. Amalee was one of my favorite boutiques in the area so I was excited to work on this project.

challenge

The original Web site was built in Flash, was difficult to update and not friendly to search engines. Also, the client wanted to add a blog to the Web site.

strategy

The boutique is built around timeless styles and exudes a warm ambiance with just enough local eclecticism to compliment the neighborhood. Taking inspiration from the classics, Amalee Boutique showcased clothing lines from exciting new up-and-comers and well known designers alike.

design

We worked closely with Leeann to design a new Web site that reflected the Amalee style. I asked for samples of Web sites she liked. After the preliminary research and discovery phase the client was presented with an initial home page comp that was approved on the first pass with no changes. It’s always fun when we are successful in capturing the client’s visual brand.

web site

We created a new custom handcrafted Web site and blog using WordPress as a Content Management system (CMS). In addition to Web site redesign we added a blog. The client was so happy with the design that, when she decided to close the doors to Amalee boutique and start a new jewelry business, we re-purposed the Web site and blog into a Web presence for Verabel Jewelry.

digital marketing

We feel strongly about keeping a consistent brand look and feel for all marketing materials, so we created an email campaign template that matched the new look of the redesigned Web site. We set the client up with a self-publishing template that allowed her to easily create her own email updates and monitor the statistics.

client testimonial

"I greatly enjoyed working with Shona and her team. She took my ideas about redesigning my website and completely brought them to life. Their work exceeded my expectations and the outcome is a beautiful and unique website that I absolutely love.

Shona is extremely creative and knowledgeable about all aspects of design, branding and social media marketing. I learned a lot during the design process and feel my business will benefit in many ways. They are also totally affordable and very much worth the investment.

I would work with Eye Design Studio (and plan to in the future) again and again for any of my web design needs."
